Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Carolyn Sue (McNew) Fields, 70

Carolyn Sue Fields Picture

Carolyn Sue (McNew) Fields, 70, of Maumelle passed away on Saturday evening. Sue was a woman of extraordinary courage and faith who accredited her resilience to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her life revealed God so plainly that not even cancer, strokes, operations, or Alzheimer’s could prevail over her indomitable spirit.

She met the love of her life when she was only 17, and gave him her number at the skating rink. Their eventual first kiss wasn’t perfect, but after 52 years of marriage they finally got it together. Together they celebrated life, love and a passion for Christ.

In her early ministry, she served the people in Colombia as a missionary. As a pastor’s wife, state side, she directed many captivating choirs and extraordinary dramas. She held every relationship with fellow church members dear, praying for each one daily.

Sue was a living Christ-like example of love, honor, and integrity. She loved her family with every fiber of her being, constantly reminding her children they would be her babies “even when they’re 50.” Her children will continue to be her lifelong joy and wonder.

Heaven is now hearing a choir led by one of the best, but here on Earth may she continue to live on in the hearts and minds of the countless people that she touched. We love you. Until we meet again.

She is preceded by her parents John D. and Mattie Jo McNew; survived by her loving husband, Ray Fields; son Todd Fields (Wendie), daughter, Tiffany Fields Dennis (Chris); 2 grandchildren, Kohler King and Kylie Fields; 3 beautiful sisters, Joan Parker, Glenda Sutherlin (David), Denise Rozell; and her brother (Vernon McNew (Kathy); as well as countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Foreign Missions, at Cross Journey, 4715 Gum Street, North Little Rock, AR.

Funeral services will be held 11: 00 a.m., Wednesday at Cross Journey in North Little Rock. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19th at Cross Journey.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service 2620 West Main Jacksonville. 501-982-3400.

I will always remember Sue with great love. When we attended Glad Tidings she taught the children on Sunday evening before the main service. I was 5 years old at that time. Sue took an interest in me as she was leading us in song, her with her accordion. Between children’s class and beginning of the main service she asked me to stay to practice a song. That night with Sue accompanying on the accordion I sang in the main service, “I’ve Been To Calvary.” From then on she worked with me to sing .
I am now 57 years old. I have been a Minister’s wife for the past 38 years.
I wanted her family to know what a difference and impact she had in my life.
Thank you, Sue. I know you’re in heaven leading a choir, or playing an instrument.

Dear Bro Ray, We are so sad to hear about your loss. Sue was exceptionally beautiful so ladylike- she had the most beautiful eyes. Everything she did was top shelf and so gracious. I remember other pastors calling you father Abraham before your little daughter was born. Sue gave me a beautiful baby shower. A true southern belle. Thank you for marrying us over 30 years ago and we will be praying for you in this difficult time.”The kings daughter is all glorious within.”

Bro. Ray & Sister Sue were our pastors at Ferndale Assembly of God when we were growing up! What a spiritual mentor & friend she was to our family & my sister Vicky & I started singing together due to Sister Sue’s encouragement. Bro. Ray our family is lifting you & your family up in prayer during this season of life. Never will Sister Sue be in pain again, healed by The hand of God!

Dear Mr. Ray – Mrs. Sue was always so sweet and kind to me. For years I enjoyed sitting right in front or right behind you guys at church. She was such a precious lady and so kind. I just loved her smile she would always give me when we would see each other. She is up in Heaven now having the time of her life. God Bless You and your family.

Ray: I am so sorry to hear of Carol’s passing and the hurt you are enduring. I went to school with her and knew her to be a wonderful person even back then. God knows your hurt at this very moment and will give you comfort if you cling to his hand.
