Roy Frederick Persson, 98

Roy Frederick Persson, of Sherwood, realized God’s promise, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” on Thursday, September 8, 2016.

He was born to Swedish immigrants on Chicago’s Southside July 11, 1918.  He sealed his eternal destiny at age 18 when he kneeled beside his work bench at the Rock Island Armory, and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ.  He demonstrated this commitment by a daily walk of faith in God’s provision, by living faithfully with his wife, Gracia, for 61 years until her death, and by resolving that “the praise of the Lord would always be on his lips.”

A week before his passing, he called his eight children together and gave this simple admonition, “Live for the Lord”.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12 from 6-8 pm at Faith Bible Fellowship, 1201 W. Maryland, Sherwood.  His life will be celebrated in community on Tuesday, September 13, at 3:00 pm at the church.

Arrangements entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas, 72076.

I had the privilege of knowing Mr Persson and he was quite a saint on earth, a very Godly man who lived by example and always, ALWAYS had a Christ-like attitude that was just contagious to everyone he met, face to face. I know Jesus is enjoying his presence now and Mr Persson is singing his heart out for all the saints to hear! Rest in Peace, faithful servant. I’ll see you in the city that is built four square!

It has been a privilege to meet Roy and all the family members living in AR. We enjoyed attending your church from time to time while on furlough. May God console you and bless all of you.
