Lester Carroll Tackett, 78, of Jacksonville, went to be with his Lord, at 10:35 A.M. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He was born on January 2, 1940 in Lonoke, Arkansas.
Lester was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. He served our country in the Army reserves. He loved racing motorcycles. He worked as a fireman in Jacksonville and also worked at Remington Arms for over 15 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Tackett and his mother Bessie Whortan, a brother, Jim Tackett, and a sister in law Beulah Skiver.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Connie Tackett; three daughters, Leslie Essary (Bobby), Cindy Lovell (Aaron) of Jacksonville, Donna Cordora of California, two brothers; Tommy Tackett (Lois) of Jacksonville, Dennis Tackett (Brenda) of Heber Springs, sister in law Tina Metcalf (Jim)of East End, brother in law Horace Evans (Patti) of Cabot; two grandsons, Dayton Thomas (Ashtin), Triston Lovell (Shauna); three granddaughters, Shawna Watts (Justin), Cheyenne Lovell (Shaun), Erica Nutt (Kevin) and eight great-grandchildren. He had a wonderful life and greatly enriched our lives

He was the most wonderful daddy in the world no one could ever ask for a better dad he made sure we had way to many wonderful memories vacations camping day trips to casinos Christmas shopping and alot more to many to even start so because he was such a wonderful dad we will forever have so many wonderful memories of being with him and there wasn’t one time I can remember ever thinking he wasn’t the very best I always knew exactly how lucky we were to have him I love you daddy and I will always carry memories of you with me for the rest of my life till I get to see you and hug you again ..all my heart and all my love your baby girl ..
He was the best husband I could have wished for. Great father, and grand father, he always put us first.. We had so many good times over the years. I have so many good memories of him. Although you are gone I will always love you honey!

I will think of you everyday. I love and miss you. There were so many good times I remember. You were always there for all of us. You helped me become the man I am. I couldn’t of asked for a better father. I so wish we could of had more time together.
I had the Honor of knowing Mr. Tackett for nearly 11 years, and I am forever grateful for the time I got to know him. He was Kind, generous, wise, family oriented. Anything my Wife (Shawna) and I ever needed, he was there with an answer.
Though I was just his Grandson-in-law, he always treated me as his own. I will miss him and our conversations dearly.
Until I see you again, I will think of you everyday.
He was the best grandfather anyone could ever ask for, he was kind hearted and he had the most adventurous spirit. I have so many amazing memories of him, and although I didn’t see him nearly enough these past few years I know he’s watching over all of us now and I will always have those memories close to my heart. I love you papal, I feel truly blessed that I got to be your granddaughter.
Carroll, was a good man, & my uncle. I remember going to Memphis to watch him race motorcycles. He was a very good short tracker and earned a professional # 16 L. He used to come to my dads motorcycle shop and tell me stories . He was a avid Razorbacks fan. Although I haven’t seen him in awhile, I will always remember him! God speed Carroll, hope to see again in another life! I know that aunt Connie , Cindy & Leslie will miss him very much.
Carroll I miss you so much I miss talking to you once twice a week like the old times & our kids & Gran kids & about our R V trips but I no your in a better place with no pain& you would be so proud of Connie the way she’s taking care of things in this very difficult time Love you brother “& all think of you see you again someday
My papal is the only grandpa I had. I remember going on so many vacations with my grandparents. We went to so many different camp sites, museums, events, tourist attractions & traveled through so many states on the way. Papal was always the I one to drive the RV. He loved the numerous RVs and vehicles he had. My papal was also into music. I remember him playing his acoustic guitar when I was younger. I remember playing with his keyboards as a kid. I probably wasn’t supposed to. He was such a great, generous person. I’m so glad that my husband & my children were able to see & meet him. I know my husband treats it as an honor to have been able to meet him & speak with him. At events, my papal would speak to the men of the family (there aren’t many), so my husband was able to talk with him & really enjoyed the time he spent with my papal. I know papal loved all of us & wants us to focus on the good times we shared & appreciate that we have each other at this time.
I remember Carroll fondly, years ago would spent a summer in Jacksonville with him and my sister Marsha. I remember the broom factory and his parents very hospitable.
