Donald R. Cates, 79

Donald R. Cates, 79, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed from this life on May 21, 2018. He was born on July 12, 1938 in Friendship, Arkansas to the late Henry and Edith Cates. Donald enjoyed going four-wheeling, painting, going to flea markets and visiting with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, LaDonna Cates; six children, Don E. Cates, Kimberly Coleman (Floyd), Edie Trammel (Joe), Cathy Bader (Matt), Mitchell Harrison, Robert Harrison (Susan); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Donald is also preceded in death by his siblings, Avanell Overturf, Roy Cates, Agee Ashley and Nadine Gregory.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Arkansas Hospice, St. Vincent Hospital, #2 St. Vincent Circle 7W, Little Rock, AR 72205.

Visitation will be 9-10am, with funeral services to follow at 10am on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at A Natural State Funeral Service 2620 West Main Street in Jacksonville. Burial will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

    Uncle Don has always been my “favorite” uncle! He is so much like daddy it is unreal! I think of daddy every time I looked at him! Loved him dearly! He will definitely be missed!

    Sorry I couldn’t make his funeral and be there yo honor him. Working with him was a true joy and very rememberable. Prayers to his family and I know he’s earned Gods love and comfort.
