Gail Moorhead Coile, 81

Gail Moorhead Coile departed this life on August 21, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Beebe, AR. She was 81.

She was born in Vicksburg, MS on September 14, 1936 to Edwin E. and Mary Jo Moorhead. A life-long Methodist, she was salutatorian of her class at Carr Central High School in Vicksburg. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. After raising her children she went on to earn a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Jackson State University and later a degree in nursing from the University of Houston.

She was a leader in scouting and an advocate for children and civil rights. She worked for many years in healthcare and was published in various professional journals. All of her volunteer activities and career choices reflected her strong conviction to be in ministry to others as a living-out of her Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Minnie Nettles Mellon, and her parents, Ed and Mary Jo Moorhead. She is survived by her longtime companion, Linda Faye Sides of New Castle, KY, her sons Edwin Coile (Barry Stamper) of Greentown, PA and Rev. Warren Coile (Linus) of Brandon, MS, her daughters Mary Coile (Yvette Schwenk) of Beebe, AR and Maj. Elizabeth J’Nell Coile of New Orleans, LA, and her five grandchildren: Dr. Clifford Coile, Nelson Coile (Amanda), Jayden Coile-Freeman, Christopher Schwenk and Logan Schwenk.

The family wishes to thank Arkansas Hospice, White River Agency on Aging and other personal caregivers for their compassion and service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the ministries of First United Methodist Church of Beebe, AR or St. Mark’s United Methodist Church of Brandon, MS.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas, 72076. 501-982-3400.

    Gail had such a sweet soul and great sense of humor. I hadn’t seen her since I was a kid and was so glad I had the chance to visit her and my Aunt Faye 2 years ago.
