Richard Leonard Gagen, 79

Richard Leonard Gagen, 79, of Sherwood passed away on August 26, 2018.  He was born in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Harold Leonard Gagen and Dorothy Pauline Poore Gagen.

Richard was an avid outdoors man who loved to hunt all birds, he was a proud member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, National Wildlife and Turkey Federation.  He was a retired mail carrier with the United States Postal Service and one of the founding fathers of the Runyan Acres Fire Department along with Mike Foster and Charles Browning.  Richard served as the Assistant Chief and Training officer for Runyan Acres Fire Department from 1972 until 1985; he worked for many years at Fort Thompson and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by a son Richard Evan Gagen.

He leaves behind his loving wife Dovie Gagen; son David B. Gagen and fiancé Dana Hodge; daughter Mary Gagen Fulmer; grandchildren Andrew Gagen (fiancé Sasha Whitfield), Aaron Gagen, Mason Bagwell, Carson Brie Fulmer (fiancé Christopher Crawford), Cierra Fulmer and one great-granddaughter Ella Rose and one brother Tom Gagen.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas. Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at A Natural State Funeral Service, Jacksonville, Arkansas.  Interment will be at 2:00 P.M. at Roosevelt Cemetery, Pleasant Plains, Arkansas.

    Dovie i am so sorry about the passing of your Husband and my close friend, Richard, Dick Gagen. He was a very good friend to me over the years.. When i was Chief on the Runyan Acres Fire Dept. We worked together, He was my Assist. Chief for quiet some time. You and the family are in my Prayers. Paul

    We are so sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. He was a very good neighbor. We enjoyed knowing him and having him and his wife over for our cookouts. He will be greatly missed. Praying for his wife and family.

    I am so very sorry & saddened to hear of Richard,s passing. I have such fond memories of him & your family growing up on Fairfield Drive. I hold them & all of you in my heart.
