Henry Billups, Jr., aka “BUCK”, age 70

Henry Billups, Jr., aka “BUCK” of Dermott, Arkansas, bade this life farewell and begun his journey to his eternal home, in the early hours on Thursday, June 20, 2019.  Buck was born on May 7, 1949 to the late Henry Billups, Sr. and Annie Laura Billups in Halley Arkansas

Buck accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. William Marshall and served as member of Lightwood Baptist Church until he moved to Dermott Arkansas.  He was a graduate of Chicot High School whereas his class was the last class to graduate prior to the desegregation currently known as Dermott High School.

After high school, Buck worked many years in the Farming Industry and many years later, he begun driving trucks traveling from state to state.  He also worked part time for Ron Justice’s Pecan until his health began to deteriorate.

Buck was a devoted father, brother, uncle and cousin to family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry Billups, Sr., and Annie Laura Jackson, one sister, Ollie Mead Billups and three brothers, Charles, Herman and Sullivan Billups.

He leave to cherish his memory, three sons, Ronald McDaniel, LaKedrin Billups, of McGhee Arkansas and Henry Billups, III of Arlington, Texas; two daughters, Ebony Figures and Dawn Billups of Arlington, Texas; four brothers, Roosevelt(Diane) Billups and Franklin Billups of Chicago, Illinois; and Otis Charles Billups of Dermott, Arkansas; six sisters, Lula Billups and Ruby Woods of Dermott, Arkansas; Mildred Billups and Freddie Brinker of Chicago, Illinois; Paige Billups of Birmingham, Alabama and Hildaphine Billups of N. Little Rock, Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 12:00-1:00pm with funeral service to begin at 1:00pm at Antioch Baptist Church in Dermott, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Bowie Cemetery in Halley, Arkansas.

    Buck was one of the kindest men I knew. I have known him all my life and have some great memories of him. Prayers for his family. RIP BUCK!!
