Roger L. Cox, 53

Roger L. Cox, 53, of Benton, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2019. Mr. Cox was born May 23, 1966 to Cletus and Audrey Cox (Peters).  He married Dorothy Dowden on August 8, 1987.

Roger served in full-time ministry for 28 years in various churches including Victory Baptist Church in Benton and FBC of Clinton and Macon, Illinois.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, of 31 years; his daughters Allison (Aaron) Simpson of LR and Andrea Elder of Benton; two grandchildren, Tucker and Liza; two brothers, Loren Wesley Cox of Anna, Illinois and Kenneth (Abby) Cox of Flora, Indiana and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Cletus and Audrey Cox and his in-laws Dean and Betty Dowden.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 from 6-8pm at Victory Baptist Church in Benton, Arkansas. Funeral Services will be held at Victory Baptist Church in Benton, Arkansas on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11am. Burial to follow service at Mount Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Haskell, Arkansas.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude during this over-whelming time. A heartfelt thank you to our family and friends for all of their prayer, support, love and encouragement.  As well as all of the medical staff over the last five years which includes:  Dr. M. Shane Higginbotham and staff in Malvern,  Dr. Alex David and staff at DaVita in Benton, Dr. John Hayes and staff at Pulaski Surgery Center in North Little Rock, Dr. John King and staff at Retina Associates in Little Rock, Saline Hospice Center in Bryant and American Kidney Association.  We love you all – Dorothy, Allison and Andrea.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roger Cox Memorial Fund.

    Prayers to Dorothy and his daughters, I know what you’s are going through but the Lord is with you and give you comfort like He did me. My heart goes out to you all. He was a godly man and had such a wonderful heart for family and friends. Love and prayers to you all.

    This is very saddening to me to hear this due to him being so young and the effects it will have in his family. I have always been very appreciative of this man because he pulled me into his office one day and he saved me in the name of the lord. I wish he would have been around longer because I would have been more than happy to have him baptize me. Condolences and prayers go out to the remaining family!
