Dr. John Bruce Lindeman II, age 78, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, August 8th, 2019 at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock.
Bruce was born in Washington D.C. on June 17, 1941 to John Bruce and Virginia Dean Lindeman. A true global nomad, he spent his early childhood in Copenhagen, Paris and Rangoon, eventually graduating as Valedictorian from Kodia Kanal School of India in 1959. After the family returned to the United States, he attended George Washington University before transferring to Syracuse University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1964. Bruce was then awarded the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship at Duke University where he obtained his Ph.D. in Macroeconomics.
In 1964, Bruce married and had two children, a son James and a daughter Sydney. He taught at Georgia State University for a brief period prior to accepting an Endowed Chair in the Business School at University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he enjoyed an illustrious, 40-year career which ended with his retirement in 2017. During this time, he authored several interesting books on Real Estate Brokerage and Barron’s guides for passing real estate exams in various states.
Bruce was known for his intelligence, quick wit and generosity. True to his compassionate nature, in 2007 he co-founded Hunger-free Arkansas, a charity dedicated to providing food and nourishment to the homeless community of Little Rock.
Bruce is survived by son James Lindeman, daughter Sydney Lindeman, sister Betsy Flint, brother William Lindeman and grandchildren Jordyn Lindeman and Josh Hardy. The family respectfully asks for donations to Arkansas Hospice in lieu of flowers or gifts.

My husband, Merrick and I are secondary school mates of Bruce. My husband was in Bruce’s class while I was below them. Being a member of Kodaikanal School in South India was a unique, special experience. Reading of Bruce’s life was inspirational. He lived it well. Our sympathy to his family.

His sweet wife, Patty, was my matron of honor. I loved visiting with Patty and Bruce at their lovely home in the Oak Forrest neighborhood of Little Rock.
