Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Johnny L. Dixon, Jr., age 57

Johnny L. Dixon, Jr., 57, of Mayflower passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 29, 1962 to the late Harold and Mildred Dixon.

So many memories. We were so young went to live with Grandmother and Granddaddy. Jay was only 4 years old at the time. They took four little children in and gave us such a happy childhood. I can see Jay’s bright red hair and a beautiful smiling face when I look back on those times. We had a large yard to play in and a Bassethound named Charlie Brown that had 13 puppies. We got to keep one and her name was Princess.

More memories. When we were in early elementary school, we went to Midway Island because our biological father, Johnny L Dixon, Sr. was stationed there. Wow was that ever a great time to be a kid. We would go to school during the day and once school was out we went to the beach to swim till we had to go home. We would go searching all over the Island. Which got us in trouble at times. We got to see goonie birds as they were called. This was such a magical time.

Jay had a sensitive side that some may not have known. I had pneumonia for a week and he wanted me to feel better so he went out and bought me a beautiful Gardenia plant.
He also had a silly side because when I got married he had Way to much fun decorating mine and Rob’s truck that night. He got a good laugh.

Recently Jay stayed with Rob and me for a few days while Elizabeth went out of town. I will forever cherish these last few days that we were able to get to spend together. All four of us kids were together again one last time. We were able to share a home cooked dinner together and spend time talking. We watched NASCAR and the Hogs play Baseball.

So sorry to hear of Jays passing. We were all childhood friends. I spent many nights & days at their house. All of my & Jays siblings played in that big ole yard & enjoyed Harold & Mildreds cooking. They were awesome people. May you rest in peace now Jay until we meet again. God Bless this family. Trinket, Lucinda & Harold you will be in my families thoughts & prayers during this time.
