Chester Richard “Dick” Palmer, age 80,

Chester Richard “Dick” Palmer, 80, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed from this life on October 23, 2019. He was born in Hobart, Oklahoma to the late Chester “Chet” and Nadine Palmer. Dick was a fun loving man who was known to be a jokester and was referred to as the “Hug man” while feeding the homeless people as part of his church’s outreach mission. He was a locomotive engineer for Union Pacific Railroad and enjoyed driving his trains. Dick loved going to the lake and the beach but his greatest love in life was his bride, Lynn, for the past 55 years.

He is also preceded in death by his sister Anne Geirs. Dick leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years Lynn H. Palmer; four children, Troy Edwards, C. Richard Jr (Kerri), Chris Palmer (Susanne), Melissa Harris (John); eight grandchildren, Matthew Palmer, Jonathan Palmer, Cole Palmer, Chase Palmer, Leslie Palmer, Jacob Lawrence, John Paul Harris; one sister, Janet L. Torrance and a host of other loving family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 10:00am at the First Assembly of God Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Arrangements have been entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas.  501-982-3400

    Such a blessing to have known Dick!
    Always enjoyed fellowship with he and Lynn! Won’t be long and we’ll all be Praising The Lord together! Lynn, you’re an inspiration, so stand boldly and keep that Love for others flowing… we all need each other til we get where Dick is! Uplifting the children! May the Lord heal your wounds and comfort your souls at this time!!!

    Hard to believe Lynn. Last time I saw you too was at Uncle Jon’s funeral at Central Baptist.
    Sorry I have not been available. We all went through a lot. I am recovering from brain surgery now. But God blessed me.
    You and Dick were great friends.to everyone including me. I’m so sorry Lynn.
    Dick was a fine man. He took his licks and kept on moving. He adored you. He will be missed. See you soon.
    Dick touched so many lives. We all are better off knowing him. I’m gonna miss him. Condolences from The Toler family.
