Jack W. Urquhart, July 27, 1944 – November 16, 2019
Our dad was called home on November 16, 2019 at 9:01 a.m.
He is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Dorathy Urquhart and sister Raya Marie Urquhart Tallman.
He leaves behind his daughter Jackie Urquhart Dickerson and his son Jody Urquhart (Keri); his grandchildren Alexis Grace Urquhart and Logan Booth Dickerson; one sister Karen Ann Bombard and many friends and family.
I’m very sad to have lost my dad, my best friend. He was the man that taught me electrical, mechanical, and woodworking skills, but most importantly that hard work never killed anyone. He would say, “If you have to back up to a check, then you didn’t earn it”. He also would say, “You work twice as hard on your last day as your first day, just to show them they didn’t hurt you.” He taught me to always look ahead for more to do and find opportunities to advance. He would say, “Show me a man that thinks he makes all he’s worth and I’ll show you a man done working for you.” My dad taught me that everything has its place and if you always put it where it belongs, you will always know where to find it when you need it. Can you tell yet that he grew up on a farm?
My dad was a Master Electrician by trade and a “Jack” of all trades. He was a member of the IBEW Local 295. His super power was his ability to fabricate and build anything. He never drew anything out, he spent time building it in his mind and then brought it to life. If you knew him you knew he didn’t tolerate nonsense, he expected the best from his friends and even more of himself. His motto, “If you’re looking for slack, don’t come to Jack”. My dad had huge hands (his pinkies were size 14) and forearms, together as tough as sledgehammers. At the end there was nothing left of his hands, just a shell of what they once were; scarred up from years of hard work.
I’m extremely thankful he was our dad.
Just Jack to everyone he ever met, dad to Jackie and I, and poppa to his grandchildren

he will be missed and always loved. I am very proud to call him my friend.
I got to work with Jack on quite a few service calls while at I.S.I. He was a super hard worker and an honest person. He used to keep me laughing while traveling to and from service calls. I’m so happy that i got the opportunity to work with Jack , learn from Jack and have Jack as a friend. Charles Newman
A long time friend of over 45 years
What a beautiful tribute to your father Jody. My heart goes out to you and Jackie. I pray for love and peace to the whole family. I will see you soon.
A truly great friend. I will miss him.
Jack mentored me and many other people. But at the end of the day, you just had to get out of his way, so not to slow progress. I have very fond memories of Jack and miss him. Will see him again in Heaven. Love to Jack’s family, God bless.
Jody and Jackie, you both have my sympathy and deepest condolences on the passing of your father. He had a kind and gentle sole about him and, yes, very large hands that gripped gently.
Have known Jack for all but 9 months of Jody’s life. He was a good man and a good friend. He helped my late husband wire his barber shop to open his business. A little bartering happened. A great memory for me. My love and prayers for Jackie and Jody.
Jody, I am so sorry to read of your dad’s passing. I can tell from reading the obituary that you got your work ethic from him. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I graduated with your dad. We were good friends during and after high school. Had a lot of fun with him at our 40th and 50th year class reunions. Sad to hear of his passing and my condolences go out to you and his family.
Jack was a hard working, kind and generous man. When I visited him we always watched Western movies, he loved Westerns. We also had many great conversations about politics and NASCAR over the years. He was a great step-dad that always treated me like family. I will remember him with fondness and respect. He will be missed!
