Christopher “Chris” Leonidaus Howser went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2019. Chris was born on October 7, 1954 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a Journeyman Electrician and a big time Hog fan. He loved to fish with his daughters, and he loved to go dancing. Chris sang in numerous gospel quartets, and he had a beautiful bass voice. His greatest love was for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Belva Howser. He is survived by his brother, Jim Howser of North Little Rock, Arkansas; two daughters Jessica Howser (Jess Reid) of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and McKenzie Parks (Darrian) of Mayflower, Arkansas and Teresa Barron (Ross), the mother of his children. Chris was a loving PawPaw, who cared deeply for his five grandchildren. He had a host of nieces and nephews, whom he loved.
The family would like to thank Robinson Nursing and Rehabilitation and Kindred Hospice for taking great care of Chris.
Visitation will be December 30, 2019 at 10:00 at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas. Funeral service will begin 11:00 with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, Arkansas.

I have known Chris for almost 18 year and he has brought so much joy to my life. I will always love you and miss you my dear friend. Loved listening to you sing in a group and going to a church to hear you. “Just an ole Sinner Saved by Grace” was my favorite. No one could sing “This ole House” better than you. Those low notes that you could hit amazed everyone! You are singing with the Angels now and probably talking their ears off. You were like me, never met a stranger. You will always hold that special place in my heart. Prayers for the family.

One of my best memories was being in Hot Springs for the State Choral Festival in high school. I can still see in my mind’s eye, Chris and I walking down Bathhouse Row talking and laughing. He will be missed.
I’m so sad to hear this. I sang with Chris in endless choirs and quarters in high school at Cloverdale and McClellan. One of our greatest misadventures came when the McClellan male quartet want at the funeral of a fellow high school student. We sang “Let There Be Peace on Earth” a capella, but someone hit the note on the piano to get us in tune but they hit the wrong note, so that we sang it a half octave too high. By the end of the number Chris was singing a high baritone,.while I was a first tenor and Phil Rodgers somewhere beyond first tenor. John Peebles was singing soprano. I can’t say how many times I sang with Chris, especially among with John, since we were also at Geyer Springs. Well, God Bless you brother. We lost touch after high school but Chris was an indelible part of my childhood and I regret we didn’t stay in touch. Maybe we can reconnect at the next level.

Chris was a special friend, and to lose him at Christmas is heartbreaking. But whenever I listen to the McClellan Hilghlander Choir album, I’ll be listening for Chris singing “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” and remember him just the way he was. Rest in peace, my friend.
I met Chris in elementary school and we sang together with Mrs. Hollingworth until we graduated from McClellan High School. He was not only a fabulous singer but a gentleman and sweet friend. . He will truly be missed.
I never imagined I would be writing a ‘see you later’ message to you. You were such a huge part of our life. From Saturday nights playing spades to trips to see our Razorbacks play, we had so much fun and made so many memories. I can still hear you sing at our wedding! Oh and don’t forget our trip to Dallas and you stopped up the toilet in our hotel room! Guess I shouldn’t have posted that part but it was hysterical! I thank and praise the Lord for all those special times with you, Teresa and the girls! Until we meet again……
