Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Brenda Sue McCally Dodd, age 67

Brenda Sue McCally Dodd was born January 22, 1952 in Charleston, South Carolina as a “Navy Brat”. She was the 2nd of 5 children and the only girl born to James Dallas and Betty Lee McCally.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her father, and her brothers: Patrick Thomas and Phillip Simoneaux,

Brenda graduated high school in Pensacola in 1970. She joined the military to pursue a career in nursing.

In June of 1980, Brenda met Sam while stationed at Dover Air Force Base. It didn’t take Brenda long to realize that Sam was the love of her life. They married on Sam’s Birthday in 1981.  Brenda was transferred to Little Rock Air Force Base in June of 1983. In her 6th year of active duty, she converted to reserve status. While in the Air Force Reserves, she obtained her LPN. She maintained her certification until her passing.

Brenda helped Dr. Paul Valentin-Stone open his office in 1985 and worked for him for over 20 years as a Nurse and Office Manager. Dr. Stone became a part of Brenda’s family.  After retirement, she was a florist-designer, and worked as a nurse for an optometrist.

While Brenda enjoyed being on the beach, her family and being Granny “D” gave her the most joy.

My condolences to the family. You were blessed by Mrs Dodd’s love, as we are thankful for her service to our country, the United States Air Force, and to other children of God. May she rest in peace in His everlasting arms.
