Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Maureen Margaret Stuckey, age 76

Maureen Margaret Stuckey was born May 9, 1943, in Chertsey, England to the late John James Offord and Doris Catherine Ward. With four older brothers, at Maureen’s birth, her father told the midwife she had better look again.

The Second World War was raging at her birth, making food sparse and rationed. Maureen’s family kept rabbits, chickens, and a big vegetable garden to supplement their food. She spent her happy childhood playing beside the river Thames, laying in the long sweet-smelling grass, reading library books, walking her dog, and swimming on hot days.

Maureen met her husband, David Graham Stuckey when she was thirteen while they were both patients in the local hospital. Their childhood friendship turned into romance and they were married in 1961.

The quintessential spouse, Maureen followed her husband from their home in England to Canada and later to the United States. She was a medical professional and enjoyed working with children as a pediatric nurse. Foremost, however, she was a beloved mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed.

In the couple’s later years, they retired to Milton, Florida, where they were active members of the Milton Florida ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life, Maureen gave service to her church in numerous callings and capacities. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, reading, watching British television, and baking. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Maureen was diagnosed with cancer in late 2018 and elected to discontinue treatment after her husband of 58 years passed away on November 14, 2019. Maureen slipped quietly from this life on February 23, 2020, receiving hospice care in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was 76.

Maureen was preceded in death by her husband David; her daughter Tarri-Lynn Stuckey; siblings Lilian, Rose Ellen, John James (infant death), Albert Dick, William, John James, Peter James, and Frank Edward Offord.

Maureen is survived by her four sons: Nicholas Andrew(Tracey), Jeremy Phillip(Lileen), Lindsay Paul, and Peter Miles(Virginia); eleven grandchildren Tanis(Cody), Skylar, Kendra(Mark), Tyann(Brad), Christopher(Ysabeau), Audrey(Dion), Christine(Akshaya), Daniel, Joseph, Rachel, and Sarah; siblings Robert and Terrence Offord; and a host of other great-grandchildren, cousins, friends, and other family members.

In light of the current health situation, the family has asked decided that a memorial service will be held at a later time.  The family will be grateful for your thoughts and prayers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas. 501-982-3400

She loved Our Lord Jesus Christ and she is in the presence of our Lord. Those who believe in Him, thought they die, will live with Him forever. I met her couple times in our church and she inspired me as a sister in Christ. Prayers for family and friends. Amen 🙏
