Patricia Deaton Perry, 78

Patricia Deaton Perry, 78, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on February 23, 2020. She was born in Hope, Arkansas, to J.W. and Pearl Deaton.

Patricia attended Little Rock Central High School from 1956-1958 and graduated in 1959 from Thomas J. Raney High School. In 1963, she graduated from the University of Arkansas College of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. In 1968, she graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia with a master’s degree in Nursing. Patricia taught nursing at the University of Central Arkansas, University of Arkansas College of Nursing, Allied Health and the Baptist Health Schools of Nursing. She practiced nursing for 35 years and she was a wonderful caregiver! Patricia was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a polio survivor and a cancer survivor. She was a member of the Arkansas League of Polio Survivors, Post-Polio Health International and the American Cancer Society. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father J.W. Deaton; mother Pearl Deaton Gill; sister Shirley Layton; nephew Mark Layton, and stepfather Purifoy Gill.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Paul Scott Perry and his wife Dana of Clinton, Arkansas; grandson Patrick Perry; sister Nancy Graddy; brother-in-law Bill Layton; nephew Brad Graddy; niece Tara Simmons (Tommy); great nephew Spencer Simmons; great niece Morgan Simmons, and many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10:00am followed by a funeral service at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church, 6701 JFK Boulevard, North Little Rock, Arkansas by the Rev. Annie Lankford, JD. Internment to follow at Snell Cemetery in Emmett, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076. 501-982-3400.

    I am so sorry for your loss Scott and Dana, yet I am comforted to know of Pat’s faith and of the homecoming she received in heaven. She will be missed and I valued knowing her as my cousin. She always treated me very kindly and I especially appreciate her love for our family.

    We love you guys so dearly. You are all ever so close in our hearts & in our prayers. Your moms/grandmother was such an inspiration to many. It always made my heart smile to see her big smiles & read her comments on Facebook. By doing so, it was very clear that your moms was a lady of strong faith. May this special lady Rest In Peace.     Scott, my prayers are with you and the family. I worked at Baptist Schools with your Mother 1989 -2001. She was a fantastic lady. May you find comfort in her legacy of good will.
