Susan F. VanGeertruy, age 68

Susan F. VanGeertruy, 68, of Mt. Ida passed away on Sunday, March 1st, 2020.  She was born on July 27, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Henry Holmberg and Anna-Lisa (Carlson) Holmberg.

On January 7, 1972, she joined in marriage to Wiliiam (Bill) VanGeertruy.  They ejoyed 48 wonderful years together.  She loved to travel the United States and she vacationed out west, in Mexico, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and elsewhere.  She was a very, very special lady and will be trulymissed by all who knew her.  She lived in Chicago, Denver, and 40 years in Cataract, Wisconsin, and finally she retired in Mt. Ida, Arkansas (thanks to a dart).

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, mother, father and older brother Eddy.

She is survived by her husband William (Bill); her three sons William J. VanGeertruy (Ashley), Brian VanGeertruy (finace Kathy) and Michael VanGeertruy (Alvera); daughter Dawn Lynn VanGeertruy; grandchildren Kayden, Jazzabell, Lala, Jackson, Michael, Julian, Laura, Samantha, Nicole, Shariel, Shatika, and Kenny.

    I am very saddened to read that Sue has passed. She was one awesome woman and I know my life has been blessed due to my knowing Sue’s friendship. Sending my love and prayers to Bill and family.

    So sorry to hear of Sue’s passing. She was part of a group of parents at the Cataract Elementary who worked on fundraising and I got to know her through that. Her laugh was contagious and she was so fun to be around. My deepest condolences to all of her loved ones.

    So saddened to hear of Sue’s passing. She brought great joy and laughter to many. I smile just thinking of my conversations with her. I’m sure she is entertaining everyone in heaven. My thoughts, prayers and hugs go out to Bill and family.
