Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Scott Alan Thorstad, age 56

Scott Alan Thorstad, 56, of Cabot passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2020.  He was born in Madison, Wisconsin on June 9, 1964 to Donald Thorwald and Carol Joan (Gehrke) Thorstad.

He is an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who always made everyone laugh.  If you knew Scott, you had a friend and a great story to tell about his passion for the outdoors and his unique sense of humor. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Scott proudly served in the United States Navy for more than 26 years. Upon retiring from the military he worked for the VFW, then the VA as a Veteran’s Service Officer.  He and Lisa Marie then moved to Arkansas where he then began working for the Railroad Retirement Board in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was an active member of Grace Fellowship in Cabot, Arkansas, where he was a lead member of the Men’s Ministry.  Scott was also a lifetime member of the NRA, American Legion, and the VFW; he was a life sponsor for Ducks Unlimited and served as the Cabot DU Chairman and was a member of the Cabot Hunting Club.

He is preceded in death by his father Donald Thorstad and his grandson Julian Coates.

Scott leaves behind the love of his life for more than 15 years, his wife, Lisa Marie Thorstad; his mother Carol Gabrell (Jim); his step-sons Shaun and Devin Coates; his grandchildren Aiden and Dalila Coates; his siblings Tony Thorstad, Dale Thorstad (Kelly), Julia White and Jackie Gerac; a host of nieces and nephews; many friends and extended relatives.  He will be missed and loved by all.

A family hosted memorial service will be Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Grace Fellowship of Cabot, 601 West Elm Street, Cabot, Arkansas at 6:00 PM

In light of the current health concerns, Scott’s family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers, if you are not able to attend the service and are not feeling well the family understands. Grace Fellowship will be live streaming the service on Facebook Life if you are unable to attend. All guests over age 10 must wear a face covering to attend and social distancing guidelines will be in place.

Scott was a kind and giving man who loved adventure and putting a smile on faces. He loved God and his sweet wife, Lisa. His life touched so many. Although he is kicking up his heels in heaven, we mourn his too quick departure and feel great loss.

Lisa! The loss of Scott Is indescribable. He was loved and adored by us. He made me laugh and smile in the good and the worse of times. My life was made sweeter having known him. Scott’s crown was full of jewels that is too heavy to keep on his head. May our Lord comfort you in your loss. We love you.

This loss brings much sorrow to me. I have known and loved him as a fellow Senior Chief, best friend ever, and one of my family for 32 years. I pinned one of my anchors on him when he made Chief. We managed to be near each other for most of our career.
I find it hard to say goodbye because he will always be on mind, heart and life. We have lots of memories. He will be missed!!! Thank you Lisa for taking care of him!
