Virginia Ruth (Barnes) Street, 82, of Jacksonville passed from this glorious Earth to be with her with her Heavenly Father on August 11, 2020. She was born in Florala, Alabama to the late Oneal Barnes and Mary E. Kirkland. She was raised by her grandmother Elimira Barnes.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to many. She attended Florala High School; thereafter she married her only true love of her life, the late Bishop Massie C. Street in 1956. He loved her unconditionally even through the rough times. She loved her work at Harriet Tubman Day Care Center in E.N.Y. Brooklyn New York. Through working at the day care she met her best, lifetime, and sister friend Ms. Elizabeth Hall and family. She also met other lifelong friends Obba and Akin Babbatunde and Joyce Tompkins there as well. She also enjoyed working for the Board of Education at I.S. 292 as a school aide. At the school she met best, lifetime friend, Ms. Berdi Muse. As she made the move to Arkansas she was loved and missed by many especially her team of doctors; Dr. Madgula, PCP, Dr. Marvin Ashford, Cardiologist, Dr. Glasco, Neuropathy, and Dr. Hemmings, Neuropathy.
She is preceded in death by her parents Oneal Barnes and Mary E. Kirkland; grandmother Elimira Barnes; loving husband Bishop Massie C. Street; siblings Linda Bradberry of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, and Odessa Allen of Ft. Walton Beach, FL.
Virginia leaves to mourn her children Elder Johnny (Rosie) of Kileen, Texas, Deacon, Massie (Bevan) of Kileen, Texas, Evangelist Regina (Jimmy) of Bronx, New York, Dr. Teresa (Lawrence) of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Elder Daniel (Mamie) of Aiken South Carolina; God-daughter Jeenen Tompkins of Queens, New York; thirty grandchildren; forty great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and the many more who loved her dearly.
In light of the current health concerns, Virginia’s family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers if you are not able to attend the service. Please be aware, as per Arkansas directives, there will be a limited on the number of guests, all guests over age 10 must wear a face covering to attend and social distancing guidelines will be in place.
Visitation will be held on August 19, 2020 at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas from 11:00 followed by service at 12:00.
