Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Elizabeth M. “Liz” Dodson, 79

Elizabeth M. “Liz” Dodson, 79, of Cabot, Arkansas, died peacefully in her sleep on September 1, 2020. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and mentor. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Viola Markley, and her brother, John Perry “JP” Markley.
Survivors include her husband James, their children Jeffry McMillan (Leora), James Dodson, Jr. (Regina), Marvin “Sonny” Dodson, David Dodson (Judy Mae), Jaime Thrasher (Joseph) and their families, sister Mollie McAllister, brother James (Glynna), and sister-in-law Lurlene Markley.
Liz’s wishes were for her friends and family to gather and laugh, cry, hug, and share memories and stories of their time with her. Rather than dilute her vision by holding virtual services, or reducing the number of attendees, she wanted us to wait until social distancing restrictions are lifted. In death, as in life, she would expect her wishes to be honored so we will plan to gather in-person to celebrate her life once it is safe to do so.

I will always remember Aunt Liz’s love for pinochle and her infectious laugh when she was winning.

As I think back of when I first met ‘Liz’, I remember a fun loving free spirit right out of the 60s. She was a non nonsense tell it like it is person with a kind soul and warm heart. I am richer for having had the honor of working with her and even richer for having had her as a friend.

Jamie, I have so many good memories of your
Mom, she was always trying to be funny even when we didn’t think it was too funny. She would just laugh at us. She was so good, who else would let her daughter paint their bedroom in the middle of the night and as crazy as we did. Love you and thinking about you and your family.

My son in law Raymond said he bet Liz niece Grace would meet Aunt Liz with a glass of orange juice,a glass of ice water and a cup of coffee. AnnaJean and I swill add to that. Acup of Sissy coffee while her other coffee was brewing.
I would like to add that we all had a lot of fun with family and friends in that old house in Huntsville AR

So sad to see her gone. I always enjoyed our conversations and valued her assistance on writing projects.
