Merrie Beth Herndon-Crotts, age 64

Merrie Beth Herndon-Crotts, 64, of Jacksonville passed away on September 20, 2020.  She was born on December 6, 1955 in Miami, Florida to the late James R., Jr., and Donna Colleen (Currey) Herndon.

She was a loving wife, sister and friend.  She was instrumental in the operation of the first Hospice Inpatient Facility in the state of Arkansas.  This facility was located in a leased wing of the Towbin Healthcare Center at Veteran Association, Fort Roots, North Little Rock, Arkansas. She led, educated and mentored staff members in providing end of life care. She worked tirelessly to fulfill the mission of Arkansas Hospice, allowing patients to live their final days in comfort and dignity. Merrie Beth’s service, compassion, and dedication to hospice care inspired so many others.

She is preceded in death by her beloved fur-babies Lucky and Febe.

Merrie Beth leaves behind her loving, husband of 40 years, Dan Crotts; her fur-babies Smokey and Bandit; her brother Jason Herndon (Susan) of Houston, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to Thank and acknowledge the hard work and care of Arkansas Hospice.

    Danny, I was so sad to hear about Merrie Beth. My mother saw the obituary in the paper. I thought about you all real hard when I saw the sign about the swap meet at Petit Jean. I knew you all went to those. Merrie Beth and I talked about them since she and I married car guys. She was the best mentor for me when I got into hospice and the best boss. I know she will be truly missed, but never forgotten.
