Cantrell family – I am so sorry for your loss. I adored Gene.
I have two stories for you.
When I was attending UCA, Boo (Linda Johnson) and I were driving back to Beebe. We had stopped at a red light on Harkrider and all of a sudden someone knocked on Boo’s window. He scared her pretty badly. He was wanting a ride back to Beebe. Of course, we gave him one.
My brothers played baseball with Gene. I told William about his passing this past weekend. William said that there were many talented players on the field but Gene was one of three that he felt had enough natural talent he could have gone pro.
I’ll be praying for peace and comfort and strength as you say your final goodbyes. I hope you find comfort and joy in your memories!
My prayers are with you all. Gene was a good friend in high school. He definitely had a big heart. My God comfort each you in the days to come.
With sincere sympathy and deep sadness for the families loss.
Gene and I and another friend decided to go hit all the garage sales in Conway one Saturday. We had a blast. Got tons of great buys and had a flat in the process but had a ball. Always had fun when I was with Gene. Sure do miss my friend. God speed my friend. Praying for your family.
Gene was a good hearted man and I will miss him dearly
