Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

David Eugene “Gene” Cantrell, age 56

He volunteered at Hidden Creek Re-entry, Healing Waters Food Pantry and with many other organizations. He struggled with addiction, but no matter his struggles, he always found time for those he loved.  He loved his family and made sure that they knew of his love.

Cantrell family – I am so sorry for your loss. I adored Gene.

I have two stories for you.
When I was attending UCA, Boo (Linda Johnson) and I were driving back to Beebe. We had stopped at a red light on Harkrider and all of a sudden someone knocked on Boo’s window. He scared her pretty badly. He was wanting a ride back to Beebe. Of course, we gave him one.

My brothers played baseball with Gene. I told William about his passing this past weekend. William said that there were many talented players on the field but Gene was one of three that he felt had enough natural talent he could have gone pro.

I’ll be praying for peace and comfort and strength as you say your final goodbyes. I hope you find comfort and joy in your memories!

Gene and I and another friend decided to go hit all the garage sales in Conway one Saturday. We had a blast. Got tons of great buys and had a flat in the process but had a ball. Always had fun when I was with Gene. Sure do miss my friend. God speed my friend. Praying for your family.

I worked with Gene at Welspun. He had the best work Ethic of anyone I’ve worked with. He would help anyone and would always go the extra mile. He was well liked and respected by everyone that worked with him. He was always smiling and was strong as could be. He will be missed.
