I served in the Army with Garland 1966-1967. We were both cooks for the 123rd Signal Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division stationed in Wurzburg, Germany. We lived in the same room in our barracks. We were both fortunate to be serving in Germany rather than Viet Nam. We had a lot of fun times together both in the Mess Hall and when we were off duty. In September 2019 I returned to Wurzburg with another Army buddy formerly from Chicago like me and spent two weeks there. Our former base has been changed into a regional fire training school.
