Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Geneva Christine Taylor, age 80

Geneva Christine (Goodin) Taylor stepped into the arms of her Lord and Savior on the morning of July 18, 2021, at the age of 80.

Geneva touched many lives in almost 81 years with us. She was born July 24″, 1940 in Barton, Alabama to Molly Mamie (Wallace) Goodin and Horton Alexander Goodin. She became a child of God at a young age and remained a faithful servant. She married her life-long friend, John Ray Taylor, on September 18th, 1957 and shared four beloved children with him. She possessed a truly nurturing spirit and spent most of her life caring for others. She became a nurse as a young woman, and spent many years in the profession before continuing her education, obtaining her Master’s Degree, and going on to instruct many future nurses. She then went on to work for the State of Arkansas in support of Children’s Medical Services, and eventually, for the Office of Long-Term Care. She believed each individual deserved care, nurture, and dignity, and she devoted her career to providing these necessities to others. After retirement, Geneva filled her time with her passions for quilting, reading her many well-worn books, studying the Word of God, planning yearly family Christmas parties, and staying young by spending time with her “babies”.

Geneva was most loved by those she loved most. She was a devoted and loving mother to her children: daughter Karen Staats of White Hall, Arkansas, daughter and son-in-law Christy and Gary Greenlee of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Janet Taylor of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and daughter and son-in-law Carla Parker-Staggs and David Staggs of East End, Arkansas. She was an adored “Mimi” and “Memaw” to her ten grandchildren: Jason Staats, John Staats, Stacy Peyton, Taylor Greenlee, Kevin M. Taylor, Meagan Shandy, Matthew Taylor, Lara Parker, Liam Staggs, and Eli Staggs. She also had the privilege to know and love seven great-grandchildren: James Staats, Jacob Staats, Ellie Staats, Abigail Peyton, Ascher Cole, Caroline Taylor, and Korbin Taylor. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and son-in-law Tommy Lynn (TJ) Parker Jr. She will be dearly missed by her many loved ones and friends and the countless hearts she has touched.

Although we feel deeply saddened by the loss of our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend, we carry with us precious memories, the extraordinary love she poured into our lives, and the Promise that we will one day be united with her again in perfect peace.

Geneva’s visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2021, at 12:00pm at Shannon Road Baptist Church, 6817 Shannon Road, Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Memorial Park in Pine Bluff.

Arrangements entrusted to A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas 72076. 501-982-3400

The Family would like to thank Shannon Road Baptist Church, East Union Missionary Baptist Church, A Natural State Funeral Service, and Sweet Peas Florist for there assistance during this time.

I remember Geneva as a young mother and faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church. We enjoyed lots of fellowship and good times together. She adored her family and was a wonderful mother. Our hope is in Jesus Christ our blessed Savior.

Christy and family, I have great memories growing up with the Taylor kids at Harmony Baptist Church. We go back a long ways. The lost of a mother is heart breaking for a time and only time will heal the longing to see her and hear her voice. But the God of all Peace will comfort you and direct your sad days to knowing your Mom is “Rejoicing” in heaven. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

To Carla, Christy, Kevin, Karen, all the grand and great-grand children: Your mom (Mimi, Mamaw) was my dear friend and I will miss her immensely! I know without a doubt that she loved the Lord and she loved and lived for her family. You all were her pride and joy! My prayers are with you and all who loved your mama! She is an angel now but we will see her again. Love and prayers!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I was a nursing student of Ms. Taylor’s in 1995. I’ve been an LPN for 27 years now. I very much enjoyed her as an instructor, and I considered her a mentor. The last time I saw her I was working in Greenbrier, AR, and she was working for OLTC in the early 2000’s. Praying for comfort and peace.
