Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

David Campbell Rupert, 67

David Campbell Rupert, 67, of Cabot AR reunited with his wife and entered the gates of Heaven on 8/17/2021, while holding his daughter’s hand. He was born on 12/22/1953 in Shreveport, LA to the late Lt Col Walter Parke and Beulah (BJ) Rupert.

David was one of the most kind, gentle, humble men you could ever meet. He was an incredible guitar player who could listen to a song, and within an hour of picking could play that song himself. He loved anything to do with the outdoors: camping, hunting, fishing, bird watching, plants, and everything inbetween. As a young man he loved to be dropped off in the woods with nothing but a machete and spend days surviving and finding his way home on his own. He spent many years of adulthood hunting with his best friends and any weekend the weather was nice you could find him camping or boating with his first wife Debbie and family on Greers Ferry Lake, the Buffalo River, or Sylamore Creek. In his last few years his favorite thing to do was fish on the family pond and talk about guns with his son in law. He had a special love for wolves, westerns, and ice cream. He was his daughter’s best friend, and the proudest grandpa you’ve ever seen. He loved teaching Autumn to play the guitar, and spent so many afternoons playing with Everly after school. He was so proud of the man Dakote had become and little family he has made.

My dad didn’t ever have much to give, but he gave us every single bit of what mattered, his love, time, and support. No matter how much he was suffering he never missed a chance to support his grandkids, and was always the first to arrive. They were truly his greatest joy.
He told me not long ago “When it’s my time to go, don’t pretend I was always the perfect man, but tell everyone that I wanted to be and spent the last decade of my life trying to make up for it all.” He absolutely did.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his two best friends Steve Hardcastle, Buddy Harrell, and the love of his life, Tina Rupert. He leaves behind one daughter and son in law, Amber and James Neumeier, three grandchildren Dakote (Tonya), Autumn, and Everly, and one great granddaughter, Jaylee. He also leaves seven siblings: Lauren (Kathy) Rupert, Ann Shannon, Martha Allison, Kathey Green, Susie Cooper, Stephen (Debbie) Rupert, John (Jeanette) Rupert, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who all loved him dearly, and most especially the remaining member of the “4 Musketeers”, his good friend, Gaylon Wallis.

A special thank you to the staff of Arkansas Hospice of Searcy and Greystone Nursing and Rehab, and especially to his special nurse LaDonna Adams who loved and took great care of my daddy as long as she was able.

Services will be 1 pm Saturday, August 28 at Cabot United Methodist Church. Condolences may be sent to the church or to 15 Cinel Drive, Austin AR, 72007.
In lieu of flowers, please reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in too long. Make amends with a family member. Forgive someone, whether they deserve it or not. Maybe buy them a chocolate shake.

In the famous (and frequent) words of David, “Thank you for everything.”

I am so glad God put Mr. David across my path in life. He put his application in to live in the apartments that I manage in Cabot and from the first day everyone enjoyed and loved Mr. Rupert! He came into the office and we had several enjoyable talks about Sherwood, NLR, and his wife Tina, who had gone on to be with the Lord. He loved and missed her incredibly but we discussed that they would see each other again He so loved his daughter, his son in law, and granddaughters and talked about them all the time. Mr. David was very kind as described and a peaceful man. To Amber, he was so very proud of you and spoke so lovingly about you. God bless you and your family for showing him so much care and love.

I can imagine/see Steve Hardcastle, Buddy Harrell, David together now together in Heaven, all dancing the Irish Jig again. Wish I was there with them, just like the olden days back home.

To my Brother. You showed me the peaceful trails of Nature since we were just boys. You were always there and guided me through through the terrain when I was lost, protected me from it’s sometimes wild elements, and always brought me back home, no matter how many challenges on the trail and roads there were. That, a man can always find God’s Planned Destiny, even on the roads he took to avoid it, accidental or not. Because His Loving forgiveness assures our road home. Brother David, Through your heart and actions, you showed me God’s Loving Forgiveness, His Way home. I love and miss you already. And, every time I crest a new peak, I will always feel your heart and soul next to me on the trail.
