Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Linda Elizabeth Cook Stripling, 79

Linda Elizabeth Cook Stripling was born October 29, 1941 in Little Rock to Leo P. Cook and Inez Watson Cook.  She went to Heaven on August 4, 2021.

She was the beloved wife of James Edward Stripling for nearly 60 years.  They raised two sons who grew into men of God, Steve Stripling and Eric Stripling.

She worked in the family business and kept a clean and comfortable home, always looking for opportunities to have loved ones come and gather.  She loved meeting people, laughing and telling stories, creating personalized birthday cards, spoiling her grands, playing bridge and other games, and exploring the South with Jim by her side.  Her 15 seconds of fame came in 1957 when her photo was in Life magazine, talking with a National Guardsman as a student at Central High during the desegregation crisis.

She was a member of Windsong Church of Christ, and knew that Jesus was her only true Hope.

Her son, Eric, predeceased her in 2018.  Left to mourn are husband, Jim, son Steve Stripling and wife, Wynne, of Dallas, daughter-in-law Tonya Stripling of Little Rock, sister Kimra Cook (Bill Wilson) of Little Rock, and beloved grands, Elizabeth Stripling, Nicole Stripling Bonge (Caleb), Nathan Stripling, Danielle Stripling, Jacob Stripling (Tory), Savannah Stripling Olson (Curan), Ashley Stripling, and Laura Stripling, Leo Lumpkin and Cooper (Celena) Lumpkin, and great grands, Ava Stripling and Charlie Lumpkin.

A private celebration will be held for immediate family.  Memorials made be made to American Liver Foundation or Windsong Church of Christ.  Please share a laugh with someone today.  To sign guestbook and leave a memory please go to www.anaturalstatefuneralservice.com.

Jim and dear family, we are so very sad to hear of Linda’s death. I am so grateful I got to talk with her at length (was there any other way?) just a couple of weeks ago. She had a great story, as she always did, about how she researched for 2 days to find my phone number. I smiled for hours after talking to her as I played parts of that conversation over and over in my mind. I am so very very sorry she has gone ahead of us. She was the best neighbor I could have ever hoped for and became a sweet friend. We will miss her too. Becky and Joe Gertsch

Our deepest condolences precious family. We never got to meet Nonie but loved her as Cooper has shared just how special she was to him. Trusting the Lord of all comfort to be near.
