Edgar (Eddie) Thomas Smith, Sr., age 68

Edgar (Eddie) Thomas Smith, Sr., age 68 passed away at his home in Navarro Mills, TX on September 8, 2021. He was born March 3, 1953 in Little Rock, AR.

Eddie lived in Barstow, CA during high school. He returned home to Little Rock and worked several years as a carpenter. He later became a long haul truck driver working for McConnell Heavy Hauling, Tandy Corp. and Pacific East Trucking. Most recently he owned Texas Hot Shot Services. As a trucker he traveled all of the lower 48 states and the Canadian provinces. Eddie had been retired for the past two years. He enjoyed fishing, country music, and loved his dog “Buster” and his horse “Gunner”. 

He was preceded in death by his father Arlie Marvin Smith, mother Alice Marie Smith, and two sisters Linda Eccher and Jean Glasner. Eddie is survived by daughters, Helen Hill of Malakoff, TX, and Amanda and her husband Billy Foley of Mexia, TX, son Thomas Smith of Athens, TX, step-son Christopher and his wife Angie Douglas of Wills Point, TX,  six grandchildren, Mark, Mandy, Caydon, Avaleigh, Graci and Addison; five sisters, Margaret and her husband John McCuin, Letha Fithen, Gracie Ball, Janie Clemens all of Little Rock, Cathy Eccher of Hartford, Wisconsin, one brother, Allen and his wife Judy Smith of Haskell, AR, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 17 at 2:00 pm at New Hope Nazarine Church at 5519 Atwood Road, Little Rock, AR 72206 with Brother George Yarberry officiating followed by interment at Ironton Cemetery on Dreher Road at Ironton Cutoff Road.
