Thank you for your service! Awesome Fire Chief great man!
I grew up with Bobby. We played baseball together. He was a great second baseman. He was always a great person to be around. May God Bless the Johns family at this time of sorrow. RIP my friend.
Chief Johns was such a kind man, and an inspiring leader. He was the 2nd Fire Chief I worked for when I was a firefighter, but certainly the most inspiring and encouraging in my career in the fire service. There wasn’t anything he didn’t encourage me to do – and he supported me at every effort, providing a work environment that allowed me to grow at a time when women were really an anomaly in my profession.
I felt blessed over the years since my time in Maryland, that I had the chance to see him occasionally. Our last visit was about 3 years ago when he & his wife were traveling to Alaska. That was almost 30 years from the date I first worked for him. I am forever grateful for his friendship and mentorship, and for giving me so many opportunitiesto grow- I know I wouldn’t have made it to where I am without it.
RIP Chief. You will be missed by so many, but have left a legacy, and thank you. ❤️
You will be missed more than you know. Our prayers to Sharon and family. Bob really loved your cubs outfit!
Sharon and boys – It is hard to believe that it has been 40 plus years since I last saw you guys. I am so sorry to about Bob. Our time at Chanute was good. You guys were good friends. He was a good leader, mentor and instructor.. I was glad to hear that he made it to the top! My sincere condolences to all of you.
I remember making pizza and playing cards with Bob and Dharon when we had little kids and no money at Chanute.. I was the secretary at the Fire School and many fond memories.
Left FEMA unaware of his passing until today. Oh what a wonderful man to know. Funny and entertaining described his classes. A person could not help enjoy his company. Rest in peace Bob and to his family, trust in the Lord.
