Marcus Wayne Smith “Catfish”, 61, of Searcy, Arkansas passed away on March 1, 2023. He was born in Columbus, Mississippi on March 7, 1961, to the late Onus Leon Smith and Lanelle Bruce.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Gigi Devore Smith.
He is survived by his children Jason Smith, Jessica Thierjung, and Jacob Smith (Ashley), Briar Barbee; his grandson Jaxson; his brothers Russell Smith (Janice), Jeffrey Smith (Laurel), and Tommy Smith; as well as many extended family and many friends.
Marcus was known as Catfish to his friends. He loved Harley Davidsons, Crappie Fishing, and hunting whitetails. He was a retired gospel singer at 14, a meritoriously decorated marine (0311-8551), a house boat captain, VP of the Droolin Ratz MC, and a “skywalker” Steel painter. He always said his life was something straight out of a movie. His friends tell stories about him that paint a mystique like an urban legend…..
