Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Brian West, 44, of Benton was welcomed into his Heavenly home Wednesday, August 2,2023 by his dad, Charles West, his paternal grandparents, Elbert and Pauline West, and his maternal grandparents, Henry and Betty Jones.

Brian was born March 4,1979 in Malvern. He was a 1997 graduate of Benton High School and attended Henderson State University before graduating Summa Cum Laude from Louisiana Tech University in 2002. Karen: I remember Brain as a fine young man from the days you and I worked together. Since I lost my oldest son at age 40, I know there is nothing I can say to make this easier for you. Just know that my heart breaks for your family. Praying for God’s peace, comfort, and strength in the days and years ahead. You have surely had more than your share of difficulties to deal with, and have always been an example of grace to those around you. Sorry I did know about the service in time to tell you these things in person. Sending you much love. Linda

I had the wonderful experience of being Brian’s teacher years ago, and then later teaching with him at Benton. Never have I met anyone as kind and caring. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I will miss him greatly.

Mr. West was truly an amazing man and I want you to know that the love of Christ was evident in everything he did. He was my Spanish teacher in high school, and a dear friend later in adulthood. I am so sorry for your loss.

Christ says the greatest commandments are to love God with everything you’ve got, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Mr. West lived a life of loving our Lord and loving people, which made me think of this: “And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.” 1 John 2:17 – NLT

I can only imagine the joy and awe he experienced when hearing, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” I am praying for peace for you all, and comfort in knowing that he is in the arms of our Savior now!

I’m so sorry I never got to tell you Mr. West but thank you. I am where I am because of you. Your kindness made quiz bowl my group in high school. You gave me a place where I made my closest friends and made some of my best memories. I still remember the trips to Atlanta. They are se of my happiest memories and ones i will cherish for as long as I live. You were one of the best things about high school. The world is a lesser place without you in it. Thank you for everything.

Brian was such a gift to students. I have seen many occasions where he stopped in public to chat with former students. He always made time for them. He will be greatly missed.

    Karen,
I will pray for you as you start this journey that seems unnatural, that our kids are not supposed to go before us. Praise to our Lord and Savior that we have Him to walk with us, sometimes even carrying us.

He was the best Spanish teacher of all time 😤

This hurts my heart. Brian and I grew up together. Brian was always one of the sweetest people I’ve known. Prayers go out to Karen and Jeremy, as well as his boys.
