Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Edward Walter Neumann Sr., 89, of Mayflower AR, passed away peacefully at his home on June 19, 2025, surrounded by his children. He was a methodist. Dad was hard-working and loved to play pool and sit out at his lake house watching the wildlife after retiring.

Ed was born on April 4, 1936, in St. Petersburg FL to Clarence Francis & Elsie May (Sheaffer) Neumann. One of his first jobs was working weekends at the local grocery store to save money to purchase himself a car. He was self-taught in auto mechanics and he assisted at the local drag racing strip where he met & later married his first love, Wanda. He and Wanda began their family in St. Petersburg later moving to Little Rock. He worked for Stuart’s Muffler Shop for several years and then became a brick mason. After many years as a brick mason, he returned to Stuart’s Muffler Shop which later became Stuart’s Brake Shop. Stuart moved his location from downtown Little Rock to East Broadway in NLR and then purchased a second location on JFK. Stuart ran the JFK location and Ed ran the East Broadway location. Stuart sold the East Broadway location to Ed in the mid 80’s and it was renamed Ed’s Brake Service. Ed owned and operated this location for many years, retiring in his early 70’s.

He is survived by his brother Clarence Anthony (Tony) Neumann of Pinellas Park, FL; his children Melinda (Henry) Fortenberry of Mayflower; Ed Neumann Jr. of Sheridan; Lynn (Charlie) Failla of Conway; and Beth (David) Lee of Atkins; grandchildren, Christy Neumann, Russell Autry, Heather (Cody) Ennis, Hannah Friedl, John (Ashley) Failla; 9 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Ed was preceded in death by the following: his parents, brother Eugene (Gene) Alfred Neumann, sisters Claudia Ann Gilbert and Elsie May Gilbert, his companion, Dot Steed, his second wife, Judith (Williams) Neumann, and his first wife, Wanda (Burris) Neumann Cooksey.

Memorials can be made to AR Hospice, 1105 Deer St, Suite #10, Conway AR; Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, LR AR; or Companions Spay & Neuter Clinic, Springhill AR.

Ed will be missed by his family and friends. A memorial will be held at a later time.

I had the privilege of knowing Ed through my employer. I met him about 13 years ago and thought very highly of him. He was a hard working man who took pride in his business and his children he spoke highly of. He will be greatly missed
