Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

The passing of a cherished son, loyal brother, and loving uncle, Jay Carroll Cogswell, is announced with deep sorrow. He went to be with our Heavenly Father on July 2,2025.

Jay was born on December 6,1960 in Dallas, TX. He will be remembered for his easy-going, fun-loving spirit,  and kind heart. He was a faithful son and a loyal brother who enjoyed vacationing and anything that involved fun.

In his youth with a family of 5 siblings, he was always willing to step-up to take charge and “make things right” for the rest of us.

As an adult, he continued to be our greatest supporter. He graduated from North Mesquite High School, attended East Texas State University, and completed 30 years of service in education as a teacher finally retiring from Dallas ISD. He then moved to Hot Springs Village to enjoy the easy life of retirement.

Jay’s warmth and generosity extended beyond his family. He loved his friends and adored his pets as well. He had a gift for connecting with people and making them feel valued.

Jay leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He is survived by his father and mother, J.E. and Freda Cogswell, 3 sisters, Pamela VanRyswyk, Melody Cogswell-Paschall, Monica Miller, and 1 brother and sister-in-law, Glen and Theresa Cogswell. Jay was also an incredibly loving uncle to 11 nephews and 2 nieces, including 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews. If you knew Jay, you loved him.

We would like to thank the Arkansas hospice team for their outstanding, compassionate care they gave Jay in his last few months of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arkansas Hospice Foundation and mail to: Arkansas Hospice Foundation 14 Parkstone Circle North Little Rock, AR 72116 or online at arkansashospice.org.

A family-hosted celebration of life to honor Jay will be held at Country Place Club House at 2727 Country Place Drive Carrollton . TX  on July 20,2025 from 2:00 pm -4:00 pm. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
