Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Mary Lauren Hounwanou, 43, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in September of 1981 to Michael and Sandy Boultinghouse.

Mary Lauren is survived by her husband Harold, their children Samuel and Ruby Claire, her parents Michael and Sandy, her brother Samuel, her in-laws Afton, Rigobert, Edwige, Marinelle, Wellborn, and a multitude of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mary Lauren was a wonderful teacher who had the gift of loving children just as they were, the ones with quirks, oddities, and beautiful uniqueness.  She had a true passion for helping children see the good in themselves. With her dry sarcasm and quick wit, she could make anyone laugh. She lived authentically and was trustworthy, never hesitating to stand up for those who deserved it. She believed strongly in justice, and she lived her life guided by those values.

Above all, her children and family were her heart. She believed in them fiercely, adored them, and loved them with all she had.

She is missed deeply.

Our girl is safely with our Lord and with no pain. Her smile and dry wit are even more keen than ever before.

This is such tragic news to the McDougald family.
Lauren was our first and only baby sitter to Our daughter Allyson. Lauren was 15 and we send a letter to the DMV so she could get her hardship drivers license. She hauled Allyson all over town.❤️ We are praying for all of her family.

I met Lauren thru her family, Karen Kidd and Katie Gann. Also then met her sweet mom Sandy. Come to find out we were in college same time, same place and knew a lot of the same people. Her spirit was so contagious, and we laughed a lot together. Her wit reminded me of myself, and I loved her positivity even when things weren’t so positive. I will miss her, but so glad I got reunited with her after all the years. Prayers for her family.
