Norman “Buddy” Oscar Fisher, 95, of Newport, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025.
Born on December 5, 1929, in Olyphant, Arkansas, he was the beloved son of the late Basil and Violet (Rutledge) Fisher. A father, husband, brother, son, uncle, and friend, Buddy lived a full life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Buddy answered the call to serve his country by proudly joining the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of sergeant before being honorably discharged just prior to the Korean conflict.
After his military service, he began his career at Albright Construction Company in Newport, Arkansas. He then moved to Michigan and built a long and successful career as a journeyman toolmaker, retiring after 32 years with General Motors in Grand Blanc, Michigan. A man of strong faith, he served as an elder in the Church of Christ in both Michigan and Arkansas.
Buddy was also a proud and active Freemason. He was a longtime member and Past Master of the Free & Accepted Masons of Michigan, Lodge 571 in Grand Blanc, where he formed lifelong friendships and gave generously of his time and talents.
He is remembered by his three children: Kathy Paris (husband Vince) of Davison, Michigan; Carole Davis (husband Jim) of Shelby Township, Michigan; and Glen Fisher (wife Carol) of Decatur, Georgia. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren—Luke, Jennifer, Joshua, Katie, Andrew, Rachel, and Claire—and six great-grandchildren: Griffin, Hopper, Grace, Benjamin, Liam, and Lillian.
Buddy is survived by his devoted sisters: Wilma Hendrick of Athens, Texas; Imogean Falwell (husband Farrell) of Sherwood, Arkansas; and Barbara Coombs (husband Charlie) of Cabot, Arkansas—as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his two brothers, Maurice Fisher and Chester Fisher, and by his wives—Shirley (Cathey) Fisher, with whom he shared 52 years, and Velma (Wagster) Fisher, whom he was married to for 8 years.
On Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Cabot Church of Christ Church, located at 500 N. 2nd St., Cabot, AR, 72023, a brief memorial acknowledgment will be held at the end of the 10:45 AM Sunday Service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Buddy’s name to a charity of your choice.

Buddy was a good friend, a funny storyteller, faithful Christian and also a pretty good cook. My condolences to his three sisters and all his family.
