Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Oberta Lee Turpin, 89, passed peacefully from this world on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Magnolia Landing in Greenbriar, Arkansas.

She was born in Mountain View, Arkansas, on February 24, 1936, to the late Otis Oliver Webb and Clarcie Elizabeth Webb.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Dyer; brothers Doyle Webb and James Webb; and her loving husband of 69 years, Melvin “Bud” Ray Turpin.

Oberta was known for her loving and kind spirit, her strong will, and the deep affection she held for her family – her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader and loved her collection of Elvis memorabilia. If she wasn’t reading or cooking, she could be found crocheting, embroidering, or sewing.

Bert and Bud always welcomed family and friends into their home, where food, rest, and company were offered freely. Coffee was always hot, and a warm bowl of soup and cornbread was waiting when you arrived.

They lived, worked, and raised their family in Little Rock, Arkansas. Upon retirement, they found great joy in returning to Mountain View. Bert earned her CNA license so she and Bud could assist at the local nursing home. They rarely missed a day visiting and helping friends and family who lived there. Bud also treasured playing guitar with his friends on the court square.

Oberta is survived by her son, David Turpin (Susan Tomlinson) and their daughter Sarah Frederick (Allen); daughter, Rebecca Stroman (Mark); and her beloved grandchildren Leanne R. Baribeau (Chris) and their children, Ciel and Gray; Amanda G. Smith; Megan Mansur (Ben) and their daughter, Mia Stroman; Amanda Dean (Tres) and their children, Henry Dean, Hayden Dean, and Willow Rowland. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Mom, Memaw, Aunt Bertie, we love you and will miss all your kisses.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 1:00pm with the graveside service starting at 2:00pm at Red Doors Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas.

Thank you Aunt Bertie for your generous love and affection you showered on me as a child. I will always cherish the fond memories I have of you! I am so thankful I got the honor and privilege to love on you before our Lord called you home. I’ll see you again one day.
