Marian Ruth Gwatney, age 76, of Lonoke, Arkansas passed away on April 7, 2026. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 13, 1949.

She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence Joseph Carpenter and Jean Rose (Riter) Carpenter, husband George Thomas Gwatney, daughter Annette, sister Kathy, aunt Marge, and grandson Norman Timothy Swafford JR.

Marian is survived by her children George Vernon Gwatney, Tammy Roseann Swafford (Norman), and Patrick William Gwatney; grandchildren Ryan Swafford (Whittney), Kevin Swafford, Jason Robison (Laura), Nick Swafford (Marsha), Chris Swafford (Ashley), Sandra Swafford (Crystal), Robert Swafford (Tessie), Justin Swafford, and Bradley Swafford (Sabrina); great-grandchildren Serenity, Katlyn, Dakota, Braxton, Dylan, Scarlett, Chris Jr., Kayli, Chase, Aaliyah, Jason, Koren, Jossie, Matt, Savanna, Malachi, and Michael; two brothers Steve Carpenter (Belinda) and David Carpenter (Connie); nieces and nephews Chris, Laura, Keri, Alex, Pamela, Sonya, Seth, and Suzanne.

Marian enjoyed coloring, crocheting, painting, and cooking. She loved traveling to theme parks and riding roller coasters, as well as listening to her favorite music artists like Loretta Lynn, Freddie Fender, and Ricky Nelson.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 6:00-8:00pm in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville. Funeral Service will follow on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 10:00am at the funeral home with burial to be held at Mayflower Cemetery.
