Glenn Ray Porter of Bryant passed away on April 16 in his sleep due to a sudden heart attack. He was 46.

Glenn was born in Jasper, Texas, and the world was never the same. He moved to Benton in sixth grade and quickly gained attention as the only middle schooler with a mustache. He became active in junior high and high school athletics, participating in football, baseball, and setting records in track. As an adult, he continued his love of sports by playing softball and roller hockey with his father and coaching the Razorbacks from his couch.

Glenn went on to earn a B.A. in journalism and pursued graduate studies in multi-media journalism at Arkansas Tech University. While on campus, Glenn was a valued member of “That One Show”, where he contributed filmed comedy sketches for the university’s television station. He had a natural sense of humor and was known for making others laugh, often in the most unexpected ways.

Glenn married Jennifer Rae Christian on April 7, 2018, and called her the love of his life. The couple shared nearly identical middle names—Ray and Rae-–which they considered a sign of destiny bringing them together.

Glenn loved his dogs Maive and Butters, and he took special joy in the close bond he shared with Maive, calling her his “soul dog.”

Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Randy Porter.

He is survived by his loving wife Jennifer Rae Porter of Bryant; his mother, Janice Blacklock Porter of Bryant; his sister, Jana Porter of Benton, and his brother Jacob Jones of Jasper, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Landmark Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the cemetery.
