James Aubrey Lumpkin, age 88, of Sherwood, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2026. He was born June 25, 1938 in Lubbock, Texas to Aubrey Lumpkin and Betty Lumpkin. His family moved to Modesto, California shortly afterwards then to Fresno, California.

James served his country for 22 years in the military. While in the military, he served remote assignment at King Solomon in Alaska. He also served in Vietnam and received the Air Force Commendation Medal for his duty in Vietnam. He also served at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Tennessee, Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico, and Saratoga Springs, New York. He was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord and his family so much. He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by sisters Betty Sue Woolever of West Virginia and Barbara Vann of California; his son James Lumpkin, John’s twin brother; his mother Betty and father Aubrey.

James is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Martha; son John (Deborah); his son Steven; daughter Gail; granddaughters Amanda Kelley (Robert) and Hannah Grachek (Brooks); great-granddaughters Emma Kelley, Iris Kelley and Cameron Grachek; his brother Donny Freeman; sisters Donna Liles (Larry), Rhonda Lehn; and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 5:00-7:00pm in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 9:00am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
