Charles Taylor Champion, Chuck, of Cabot, Ark, passed from this earth on July 22nd, 2026. He was 76.  Born to Thomas F. Champion Sr. and Jettie Ruth Champion, he was a devoted son, father, and grandfather.  He will be missed and his memory cherished by his family and all those whose lives he touched.  Charles is survived by his son, Wesley Taylor Champion, daughter-in-law Cassie Champion, his sister Charlotte Miller, niece Sarah Howard, and nephew Charlie Miller.  And his four beloved grandchildren: Weston Blaine-Taylor Champion, William Taylor Burns, Maddox Ryce Champion, and Tatum Rose Champion.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Thomas Frank Champion Sr. and Jettie Ruth Champion, his sister Donna Jean Schneider, his brother Thomas F. Champion Jr., and one grandchild Hagen Elijah Jones.

This world was a better place because Chuck was in it.  He left behind a countless host of friends too many to name, but who he treasured greatly.  His best friend was Warren Hill, whom he met in high school in 1964, and Diana Abbott, who he was close with for over 50 years, who he leaned on heavily and who had the honor of helping care for him in his last years as his health declined.  Their friendship was as unique as Chuck himself was.

Born in Clarksdale, Mississippi in 1949, his family moved to Cabot, AR in 1964 where he played football and ran track for Cabot High School.  He cherished those experiences and told stories about them and the people he played with all the way up until his last days on Earth.  Life took him to a lot of places, from working at Silver Dollar City which he often spoke fondly of, to following in his father’s footsteps traveling the country doing pipeline work.

His hands were rough and hard from work; he loved to build things and loved to tinker.  He loved to play the guitar just as much.  But those hard hands were still soft enough to touch the many lives that he did.  For those that had the honor of knowing him, you know that he was a unique, kind, loving and giving man and he was someone you could always count to be there for you, but who would rarely ask anything in return.  He will be missed tremendously by all those who knew him.
