Carolyn Golden, 74, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on August 19, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 24, 1952, in Little Rock to Cletus Oliver Gartman and Martha Mae Gartman.

Known lovingly as “Gogo” to her grandchildren and many others, Carolyn was outgoing, fun, and usually had a smile on her face. She wasn’t one to leave you wondering what she thought, and those who knew her loved her honesty and unmistakable personality. Her frequent and enthusiastic “Yeah, baby!” captured her spirit perfectly. To some of her friends from work, she was affectionately known as “Sweet Caroline.”

For many years, Carolyn worked at Barg Family Clinic, where her smiling face became a familiar one to countless people. She loved the people she worked with, and they loved her in return. Her warmth, outgoing personality, and ability to make people smile left a lasting impression on those she encountered throughout the years.

Carolyn loved “junking,” searching for treasures, and taking care of her booth. She adored her cats and had a special place in her heart for every one of them. But nothing compared to the love she had for her family, especially her grandchildren.

Being Gogo was one of Carolyn’s greatest joys. She spoiled her grandchildren every chance she got and made memories with them that they will carry for the rest of their lives. Among those memories were Gogo’s famously goofy cakes—the ones the kids lovingly pretended were wonderful, even when they weren’t quite as good as she thought they were. Those imperfect cakes, the laughter surrounding them, and the love with which she made them are the kinds of memories that made Gogo so special.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Carrie Golden; and her grandson, Oliver Cummings.

She is survived by her daughters, Kelley Golden and Kacie Glenn and her husband, Jonathan; her beloved grandchildren, Gavin Glenn, Hagen Glenn, and Asher Glenn; her siblings, Cletus Gartman and Deb Johnson; and many other family members, friends, coworkers, and loved ones whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.

Carolyn will be remembered for her smile, her honesty, her strength, her love for her family, her cats, her treasures, and the big personality that made her unmistakably Carolyn. She fought hard, loved deeply, laughed often, and left behind countless memories.

And to the grandchildren who adored her, and to so many others fortunate enough to know her by that name, she will forever simply be Gogo.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 6:00-8:00pm in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville. Funeral Service will follow on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 10:00am at East Union Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Woodson Cemetery in Hensley.
