After a protracted battle with cancer, Marita Kay Wortham died on January 5, 2017 in Searcy, AR at the age of 63.
Mrs. Wortham was born on June 19, 1953 in Searcy, AR to her parents Glen and Bettye Wortham. She received all of her primary, and the majority of secondary education at Rose Bud School District. She graduated from Searcy High School in 1971.
Mrs. Wortham worked as a sale representative throughout her life and enjoyed interacting with her customers. She was passionate about cooking, found pleasure crocheting, was an avid reader, and loved to tend to her yellow rose bush.
Mrs. Wortham is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Charles Sample and her grandchildren, Caden Sample and Aubree Sample of Searcy, AR; mother, Bettye Wortham of Searcy, AR; brother and sister-in-law Harold and Maureen Wortham of Toms River, NJ; brother Ricky Wortham of Searcy, AR; sister and brother-in-law Gail and Gene Taylor of Bald Knob, AR; sister Glenda Davis of Beebe, AR, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kendra Short; father, Glen Wortham; and brother Loyd David Wortham.
Per Mrs. Wortham’s request she will be cremated and a celebration of life ceremony will be held at Mt. Hebron Baptist church on January 10, 2017 at 2 pm.
