Gary Lee Evans, age 62, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018. Gary is survived by his wife, Rose Marilyn Evans, and a special granddaughter, Qurinnia, who Gary raised as his own child, and a special great grandson Stevin Staple of Jacksonville. Gary is survived by four children, Zane and Michelle Brooks of Monticello, Janifer and Jessie Waters of Butlerville, Kevin Brooks and Kim James of Jacksonville, and Tony Brooks and Robyn Nibblett of Monticello. Grandchildren, Jarrod, Montel, Elisia, Brittany W., Dustin, TJ, Brittany G., Lee and Wil, Tamara, Cheyenne, Landon, Hunter and Sarah; 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles Evans and family of Austin, TX, Robert Evans and family of Jacksonville, and sister, Lou Ann Rago and family of Tulsa, OK, and a host of family and friends that love him.
Gary was born on October 11, 1955, the son of the late Jack and Germaine Evans, at Hickam AFB, HI. Gary suffered a massive stroke this past December 14th, and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Gary was a member of Local Union 155 Plumbers and Pipefitters. Gary loved his job and retired in 2012. He loved to garden, growing plants and tend to his wife’s flowers, and always made sure his grass was green. Gary had many hobbies including his two favorites, arrowhead hunting and fishing. As Gary traveled for work, his wife and daughter were always with him reflecting his commitment to his family. Gary was a kind and caring man, and wanted everyone to be happy. He would have given the shirt off his back to a friend in need. He never met a stranger, and has friends throughout the country.
A visitation will be held at A Nature State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main, Jacksonville, on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 10:00 am, with services to follow at 11:00 am.

Since I had three boys, I always had boys in and out of my home in J’ville. After I moved out of state, Gary and several others always came to visit me on my visits home . Jay, Mark, Lisa, and I will miss you. Love Maw.

I’ll never forget Gary. He was a mess and I thought a lot of him. He loved to fish and I think fell in the Little Red River more than once!! My prayers are with Gary’s family during this time.
