Darrel Gene “Frog” Baxter, age 73, of Des Arc, Arkansas passed away on February 28, 2018. He was born on April 1, 1944 in Carlisle, Arkansas to J.W. and Elwanda Baxter.
Darrel proudly served in the United States Navy, he loved to go to the horse races, go gambling, scratch off lottery tickets, and fishing. Darrel loved playing dominos, socializing and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a spouse Bessie Baxter, a brother Willie Earl Baxter and a son Timmy Baxter.
Darrel is survived by a son Michael Baxter (Dovie) and a daughter-in-law Velda Rogers. He will be missed by his four grandchildren Britteny Bass (Patrick), Drew Baxter (Bianca), Morgan Baxter and Raven Baxter; four great-grandchildren Sadie Bass, Greyson Baxter, Ren Bass and Rylie Bass; two sisters Bettie Hopper and Trudy Pollard (Jeff) and a brother Bill Baxter.
The family would like to thank the staff at Des Arc Nursing and Rehab for their wonderful care and compassion.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2:00 P. M. at Walter’s Chapel Cemetery, Carlisle, Arkansas.

It just isn’t the same going in to work and him not telling me good morning or him just coming in the office to visit. We will all miss his great stories that always made us laugh. Such a sweet man.
Darrel grew up in the community that I live in. We loved the whole family. Prayers for the family and friends.May God give you strength and comfort in the lonely days ahead.
