Tom, Thomas R. Marcell (born July 8, 1956), passed away on October 21, 2018 after a almost five year courageous battle with Congestive Heart Failure and a Stroke. From the clerks at the grocery store to his family and friends, Tom’s happiest moments were getting everyone to laugh, have fun, and eat his delicious food. He was a retired Executive Chef, musician(played bass for ABBA at the Hollywood Bowl), Army Veteran, and awarded the National Defense Medal.
Tom loved and is beloved by his wife, Dr. Lia A. Steele-Marcell, his daughter, Sabrina Burns(Nathan), granddaughter, Melody, his brother, Dan Marcell, his sister, Laura Bock(Fred), his “Poopie” Louise Smith, his 2nd Mom, Bettina N. Steele, his Steele in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends all over the USA as well as his dog, Ranger, and cat, Mystery.
Tom has joined his predeceased father, Tom H. Marcell, mother, Ann Marcell Cunningham, sister, Vickie Lynn Simpson, and other loved ones. Special thanks to Reverend Silas Redd, his minister, Payne Chapel AME Zion Church of Little Rock, and VA Chaplin, who brought him peace by welcoming Tom into the church and baptizing him while in the hospital.

His Memorial Service is November 7, 2018 from 2-3 pm at Payne Chapel AME Church and his Honors Ceremony is November 8, 2018 from 12:45-1:25 at the Pavilion in the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery in North Little Rock, AR, 72120.
