Shelton Lee “Butch” Bowen, 76

Shelton Lee “Butch” Bowen, 76, of Jacksonville passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

At the age of eight, Shelton had a near death experience leading him to pen a book about his experience, which he titled “My Personal Angel Experience”. He served his country in the US Navy from 1962 to 1966. He was a self employed electronics engineer who owned and operated his own business called Arkansas Time Recorder where he worked on employee time clocks, fire alarm systems and intercom systems in schools. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and loved to sing in the choir.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Bowen and Annie Matilda (McWhorter) Bowen, sisters, Katherine Shepherd and Ann Ryals.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Reda (Thacker) Bowen; his son, Thomas (Carol) Bowen; his daughter, Leigh (Donovan II) Tadlock; grandchildren, Jonathan, Rebekah, Ryan, Makayla and Donovan III; great grandson, Ayden; two sisters, Dorothy (JC) Kitchel, Dixie Ewton and a brother, Daniel (Loretta) Bowen.

He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Make memorials to Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church, 11923 Zion Hill Road, Cabot, Arkansas. Funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019. Interment will follow at Rest Hills, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas.

    I’m so sorry for your loss. Butch was such a nice man. I know he’s singing in Gods Heavenly Choir. I could really tell that he loved the choir and we are all going to miss him. Every Sunday Butch would come over to my husband and shake his hand. Bob always thought he was a good man too. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
