Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Lawrence “Larry” J. Wenzler, 79

Lawrence “Larry” J. Wenzler, 79 of Jacksonville, Arkansas departed from this earth on Saturday, March 9, 2019. He was born on February 23, 1940 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Thomas and Cecelia Klaeger Wenzler.

Larry was a resident of Jacksonville, Arkansas, formerly of Sherwood where he lived and worked for most of his career. He served in the United States Air Force, both active and in the Guard for over 40 years. After retirement, he pursued a dream of owning his own business and happily worked until his disease prevented him from being able to drive.

For the last two and one-half years, Larry’s body was robbed by the cruel disease of Parkinson’s and he was later diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia, robbing his memories, but allowing him to make new friends: Brown Bear, White Horse and Pack of Wolves.

He is survived by his loving wife Dena Wenzler; son Shawn Wenzler (Misuzu); daughters Michelle Bolls (Gail Massey), Kristen Nuckols; step-daughters Michelle Spradlin, Robin South (Dave); step-son Matt Haltom; granddaughters Tayler Neal, Bailey Nuckols, Madelynn Nuckols; grandson Bryson Spradlin; his best friends (furry-wise) Pepper, JB, Kabuki, Moori and a host of other friends and family.

Special thanks is given to Arkansas Hospice for their remarkable care during the last year, especially Tere Arbogast, RN, Deborah Mayfield, LSW, and Stephanie Burton, CNA for their attentiveness and care of Larry and Dena.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Victory Baptist Church 10000 Brockington Sherwood, Arkansas 72120; City of Sherwood Animal Shelter 6500 North Hills BLVD North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116; or Arkansas Hospice 14 Parkstone Circle North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30am on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, in Jacksonville with a Graveside service to follow at 11:00am at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, Arkansas with military honors.

Larry has been a friend for many years always interested in the family and animals. He always asked what I was working on and how he could help giving advice always with a joke and to share his newest project. He loved people and challenges. We miss him very much. Our hearts go out to Dena and his family for the loss of a wonderful man and soldier. Amen
