Helping Families and Friends Honor Their Loved One

Johnny Peters, age 78

Johnny Peters, 78, of Jacksonville passed away on April 10, 2020.  He was born in Lonoke County, Arkansas, on October 18, 1941 to the late John Wayne Peters and Sadie Finch-Shumate.

Life is fragile and our time on Earth is short, according to God’s plan.  God gave us a wonderful man who had a hidden talent that even his family didn’t know about for years, he was an amazing, self-taught artist who would draw and sketch things he found interesting. He loved flowers and he could make anything grow, he loved to work in his yard and sadly never had the opportunity to ride his new John Deere.  He met the love of his life, 44 years ago, Betty Peters, and he found someone who really cared about him and his life purpose.  They did everything together, one of their fun outings was going to the casinos in Tunica, Mississippi; if they won or not, they were happy together and enjoyed watching the different performers. Even as his health declined, he was a faithful, loving caregiver to his Betty who passed away on August 30, 2019.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Peters; step-father Dan Shumate; nephew Scott Shumate and great-niece Sydney Shumate.

Johnny leaves behind to cherish his loving memories his children Kenny Fox (Mary) and Stephanie Morgan; grandchildren Justin Fox (Lauren), Chance Brooks and Molly Brooks; step-children Vicki Vinson and Billy Stephenson; one brother Dan Shumate (Linda); nephews Spencer Shumate and Stuart Shumate; great-nephew Dylan Shumate and many friends and extended family.

“Death takes the body. Our mind holds the memories.  Our heart keeps the love. Our faith lets us know we will meet again.”
