Dorris Samuel Eskridge, Jr., 69

Dorris Samuel Eskridge, Jr. age 69,  passed away at his home on March 27, 2020.  He was born December 28, 1950 in Little Rock, AR.  He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents Dorris S. Eskridge, Sr and Lula Mae McCoy Eskridge.

He attended the Madison School for the Black Blind and Deaf from 1955 to 1965.  In 1965, the Madison School integrated with the Arkansas School for the Deaf (ASD).  He graduated from ASD in 1970.

Dorris competed in basketball under Coach Charles Olser, at Madison School from 1964-1965 and from 1966-1970 at ASD under Coach Houston Nutt, Sr.  He also participated in track and football.

After graduating from ASD, he worked at Johnnie’s Shoe Shop, Aluminum Steel Company and the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau; he retired in 2015.  He was well liked and popular with his co-workers.  He was also an active member of the Little Rock Black Deaf Advocates chapter and the Arkansas Association of the Deaf Senior Citizens group.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

    Dorris was truly a good friend with a heart of gold. He will be well missed at Little Rock Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.
