Joseph Franklin McElyea, age 70

Joseph Franklin McElyea, 70, of Sherwood passed away on July 28, 2020.  He was born on December 14, 1949 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Elmer Franklin and Pansy Evelyn (Landtrip) McElyea.

He was a proud United States Army Veteran with a good heart who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by sister Barbara Jean Jones and brother Barrett McElyea.

Joseph leaves behind his children Jimmy Joe McElyea and Cindy Irwin both of Hensley, Arkansas; four grandchildren Christopher, Tyler, Ashley and Nash; siblings David McElyea of Vilonia, Arkansas and Hazel Martin of Lonoke, Arkansas.

In light of the current health concerns, Joseph’s family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers if you are not able to attend the service. Please be aware, as per Arkansas directives, attendance will be regulated in accordance to Arkansas guidelines, all guests in attendance will be required wear masks/facial coverings and social distancing guidelines will be in place.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at A Natural State Funeral Service, 2620 West Main Street, Jacksonville, Arkansas. Funeral service will begin at 11:30 A.M. with burial at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland, North Little Rock, Arkansas.

    Though the clouds are now dark; joy will come in the morning. Take care of yourself and grieve in your way and as long as you need to. You and your family are in my prayers
