Luther (Allen) Lee VanDon, age 73

Luther (Allen) Lee VanDon, 73, of Rose Bud, Arkansas passed away on July 22, 2020. He was born in Bay, Arkansas on September 28, 1946, to the late Rachel Butler and Luther VanDon.

He entered the Army in 1966 and was stationed in different locations within the United States and Europe. After the Army, he took a supervisor position with NAPA in Memphis, TN. He enjoyed his time there and was even on the NAPA bowling team. He was an entrepreneur of many business adventures and owned many businesses in his life.

He received his pilot’s license and spent time flying small aircraft and helicopters. He LOVED fast cars and enjoyed restoring classic cars and motorcycles. He spent many hours watching old western movies, playing his guitar, writing songs, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved all animals, but his heart was always with his favorite chihuahua, Pepper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rachel Butler and Luther VanDon. He is survived by his two daughters, Christel Baird (Thomas) of Batesville, MS and Cheri Foster (Donald) of Rose Bud, AR; his two beloved grandsons, Drake and Kolt Foster of Rose Bud, AR; his brothers, Clark (Evelyn) VanDon of Rose Bud, AR and Jeff VanDon of Rose Bud, AR; his two sisters, Carolyn Bufford of Ida, AR and Nancy Adkins of Rose Bud, AR; his eight nephews, Jerry Webb, Issac Webb, Joseph VanDon, Brandon VanDon, Ethan, VanDon, Chris Adkins, Jeremy Adkins, Garrett Adkins, and many great nieces, great nephews, and other family and friends.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at the home of his youngest daughter, Cheri Foster, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for immediate family and from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. for all other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Allen’s name to The Heber Springs Humane Society, 49 Shelter Lane, Heber Springs, AR. 72543 or The Waychoff Senior Center, 320 Trailwood Drive, Heber Springs, AR. 72543.

    I have fond memories of Allen. My mom, his Aunt Ollie loved him dearly., as we all did.
